Meet the Trainer
Former jockey Lisa Williamson has had a passion for and been involved with horses all of her life, and from this she has developed a unique understanding of them.
The attention to detail in every aspect of the horses life mean that Lisa’s horses really do have the very best chance to fulfil their potential. Lisa firmly believes that horses should spend much of the day out in the field, which gives them plenty of time to enjoy being horses.
Lisa says "being out in a paddock allows them to relax and keeps them happy in a more natural environment, rather than having them couped up in a stable 24/7."
Lisa runs a small yard, which allows personal care for each and every horse, whether they are at rest, in pre-training or in full training, each horse is meticulously planned and cared for on an individual basis. Being a small yard also allows more flexibility regarding when horses are worked with, such as being worked on the gallops. Lisa believes this creates a more relaxed atmosphere for the horses, compared with larger stables that may have a more regimental regime.
As Lisa says "Happy horses win races," and the the video below shows just what Lisa can do with horses that thrive in small yards. Smooth Silesie arrived at the yard in early 2024 as a 7 race maiden. By the end of the year she had won no fewer than 5 times (placing a further 8 times).
